Thanks to the support from the Genootschap, I had the amazing opportunity to attend the small Immuno-Metabolic Mechanisms of Atherosclerosis conference in Cancun, Mexico. It was an unforgettable experience where I got to learn from top experts in the field and got the opportunity to share some of my own research during a plenary keynote.
The conference was the perfect setting to connect with other researchers working on immunometabolism, a topic closely related to my PhD work on valve inflammation and calcification. Presenting my findings to such a knowledgeable audience was incredibly valuable. The feedback I received will help me refine my current projects, and the inspiring discussions, with researchers I have been following for years, gave me fresh ideas for the future.
Attending this conference wasn’t just about my current project; it also helped me build connections and grow as a researcher. I’m so grateful to the Genootschap for making it possible. It’s experiences like these that really shape a PhD journey, and I’m excited to carry all the new knowledge and ideas (and passion) forward.
